In an exiciting announcement on the local music front, live concerts at Auckland Zoo will return in February 2016.
The first to be announced is Fly My Pretties on Saturday February 13.
The full line-up of artists involved in the popular collaborative project is yet to be confirmed, but BarnabyWeir will once again be at the helm, and Bailey Wiley, Laughton Kora, and Anna Coddington will be part of the 15-strong cast.
It will be the only Fly My Pretties North Island show in 2016, and they're promising to perform plenty of old favourites from tours past, as well as a bunch of new songs generated by new additions to the troupe. This particular show will also highlight the plight of New Zealand native coastal birds.
Tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster from midday on November 6, and three further concerts by different artists will be announced in coming weeks.
Meanwhile, not many bands get to play a 40th anniversary world tour, but that's exactly what seminal English punk rockers the Buzzcocks will be doing come March 2016.
They've managed to find space in their schedule for four dates in New Zealand. The band promises a "punktastic" career-spanning set.
They will perform at Bodega in Welllington on March 16, Refuel in Dunedin on March 17, Allen St in Christchurch March 18, and Powerstation in Auckland March 19.
Earlier this week, 90s riot grrrl act Sleater Kinney made the very exciting announcement that they would be returning to New Zealand.
The trio - guitarists/vocalists Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein, and drummer Janet Weiss - will bring their full No Cities To Love touring show to the Powerstation on Monday 29 February. Tickets are on sale through aaaticketing.co.nz.
