Tour news: Blue Man Group to stain NZ for the first time

The Blue Man Group is coming to New Zealand.

After 25 years of performing together and touring the world, the Blue Man Group is finally heading to New Zealand for the first time.

The stage show - a mix of music, dance, comedy and theatre - features a bald and dyed blue trio.

The tour, heading to Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch in June and July, will showcase some of the group's best material along with all new acts.

Co-founder Chris Wink said the group was "honoured" to perform in New Zealand.

"When we first began creating performances centred around this innocent, curious character called Blue Man, we never dreamt where he would lead us.

"We believe the Blue Man's universal message of joyful exuberance and euphoric celebration resonates within all of us."

The Blue Man Group was founded in 1991 by three friends, Chris Wink, Matt Goldman and Phil Stanton. It has ongoing theatrical productions in Las Vegas, Orlando, Boston, Chicago, New York and Berlin, as well as studio albums and documentaries.

They'll perform at The Civic in Auckland from May 24 to June 5, Wellington's St James from June 7-19, and Christchurch's Isaac Theatre Royal from June 21 to July 3.
