Animal Collective will play one New Zealand show in January.

The eclectic Baltimore band will perform at Auckland's Powerstation on January 14 on the back of their new album, Centipede Hz.

That follows a well-received Powerstation show in 2009 which Herald reviewer Jacqueline Smith described as "mesmerising".

A pre-sale begins here on September 11, with tickets going on general release through Ticketmaster on September 13.
