"We've had people from all walks of life, levels of expertise, and from all parts of the world – Zimbabwe, Philippines, UK, Australia, to name a few. The range of incredible talent that we're seeing is indicative of some outrageous looks that are predicted to be walking our runway later this year.
"To have Georgia, a superstar Kiwi model, confirmed as the host of the very first Project Runway New Zealand, is an absolute coup in our eyes. It will no doubt elevate this local series onto an international playing field, which is exceptionally exciting for the designers who make it on to the show."
Fowler has become a huge star on runways in the past year, including at glitzy Victoria's Secret shows.
"I couldn't be more thrilled to be coming home to be part of the very first season of Project Runway New Zealand," Fowler said.
"To help launch the career of a Kiwi designer, while giving people a glimpse into the world of fashion, is beyond exciting. Haere Ra, New York – and see you soon, Auckland."
The show will be filmed in Auckland later this year.
