Tidal boss Jay Z slams Google, YouTube, Spotify in epic freestyle

Tidal's founding father Jay Z has delivered a blistering counter attack aimed at critics of his new streaming service.

The 45-year-old was performing at a private show at Terminal 5 in New York for Tidal subscribers when he unleashed a verbal tirade with his usual Hov finesse.

The rapper claimed he was being depicted as "the bad guy" for going against the grain, before turning on Google and YouTube for underpaying artists, claiming they "pay you a tenth of what you supposed to get".

"You know n***** die for equal pay right? You know when I work I ain't your slave right?" he spat.

He also included Beat's co-founder Jimmy Iovine in that list, who was previously accused of trying to lure high profile artists away from Tidal.

Jay Z then took a swift and angry tangent onto the recent controversial deaths involving law enforcement, or in Trayvon Martin's case, by neighbourhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman.

"But I can't tell how the way they killed Freddie Gray right? Shot down Mike Brown, how they did Tray right?

"Let them continue choking n*****," he added, referring to yet another death involving police: Eric Garner.

The B-sides show was only open to Tidal subscribers who compiled a playlist of the rappers lesser known tracks as part of a competition.

Yesterday Jay Z - whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter - was also spotted leaving his Midtown office in Manhattan and heading into the recording studio with Vic Mensa and Charles Hamilton.
