Thrones bosses keep nude scene under wraps

Game of Thrones bosses have reportedly paid a fortune to keep Lena Headey's upcoming nude scene under wraps.

Heady, who plays the manipulative Cersei Lannister on the hit HBO drama, sheds her clothes for a key moment in the upcoming fifth season.

The iconic scene, from George R.R. Martin's fifth novel A Dance With Dragons, was shot in Dubrovnik, Croatia over four days in August.

Producers were so keen prevent images of the revealing scenes from being leaked they spent US$200,000 (NZ$255468.63) on security, according to TMZ.

It's understood producers hired 200 security guards, banned mobile phones and paid local business owners to close for the duration of shoot, at a cost of $50,000 a day.

The racy scene almost didn't happen after producers were initially probibited from filming the pivotal scene because of the city's hardline stance against public displays of sexuality.

Local authorites eventually gave the shoot the green light on the provision that a topless Heady stay away from a local church.

The fifth season of Game of Thrones is due to air next year.
