Maria Tutaia and Sydney Swans hunk Kurt Tippett are an item.

It's love across the Tasman for Silver Ferns star Maria Tutaia, who is romantically involved with AFL hunk Kurt Tippett from the Sydney Swans, The Diary can reveal.

"Yes, we are dating," Tutaia said yesterday, but she was hesitant to reveal details. "It's still fairly new."

Sources close to the Northern Mystics captain say the pair started seeing each over summer and were introduced by Tippett's sister Gretel, an Australian netballer.

Lately, the sports stars have taken to teasing each other on social media with Tippett, 26, posting an old photo of Tutaia on his Instagram page last week in honour of her 27th birthday. "Happy Birthday Melsy," he wrote, prompting the netballer to respond jokingly: "We're through."

Last year, Tutaia split from Kiwi rugby player boyfriend Roi Hansell-Pune, who lives in France.

Glitzy bash
All Black Dan Carter and his wife, Honor, will be joining Hollywood's glitterati next week as invited guests to Sir Elton John's exclusive Academy Awards party.

The glitzy gala bash is an annual fundraiser for the Elton John Aids Foundation. Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay will cook dinner, and guests - who will watch the live telecast of the Oscars ceremony - include Jim Carrey, Judi Dench, Quincy Jones, Keith Urban, Heidi Klum, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, Katy Perry, Tyler Perry and Sharon Stone. British pop star Ed Sheeran will perform.

"Excited to be invited to Sir Elton John's Academy Awards Party in LA next week," Honor tweeted. "Hmm what to wear?!"

Now it's the Dotcom tape
Kim Dotcom has been taped talking to an unpaid former staff member, The Diary has learned. It's understood a news organisation is in discussions to air it. Dotcom is allegedly trying to stop it by enforcing non-disclosure agreements.

Dotcom came under fire last week from Kiwi small business owners who are owed as much as $500,000 in unpaid bills. A lack of funds was also blamed for longtime bodyguard Wayne Tempero's exit.

The Megaupload founder told The Diary he could afford to pay his minder only half of what he was getting two years ago.

Dotcom, who continues to embrace an opulent lifestyle, has pledged to pay his debts when he has the money. But when? Who knows? Yesterday he told The Diary he did not want to talk about the tape.

Millie's healthy advice
The celebrity cookbook market is rather crowded, but that's not deterring Millie Elder-Holmes, who is writing an e-book of her favourite healthy meals. Called Clean Eatz NZ, the online publication will be based on her Facebook page of the same name, which includes food and drink recipes, workouts and healthy tips.

"I'm a 25-year-old girl on a path to a healthier me, sharing my own recipes, where I eat, what I do to feel good and keep in shape and what products I use on my face and body," Elder-Holmes said.

It's her clean-living journal, and the daughter of broadcaster Paul Holmes said not to expect any of her late father's favourite recipes. "No way," she laughed. "Dad didn't have the healthiest appetite. His favourite meal was baby back ribs smothered in barbecue sauce and honey."

Lorde's swift shopping

Seventeen-year-old Lorde wore Nike sport socks with clodhopper shoes and a miniskirt on her fashion date with Taylor Swift in LA's trendy Melrose this week. Rumours abound that the Grammy winners are set to collaborate on a song. Fashionista Swift, seven years Lorde's senior, took the young Kiwi shopping where she was snapped by paparazzi. Not that Lorde seemed to care. She left the store with Swift followed by their burly bodyguard, who diligently carried the shopping.

Duncan and Gerry make up
This election year is all about kiss and make up. Building bridges. Opportunistic forgiveness. The bromance is back on for broadcaster Duncan Garner and Minister of Lots of Things Gerry Brownlee, who had a boys' night out at the rugby in Christchurch on Friday. The beers were flowing and the longstanding beef between the two heavyweight egos was put out to pasture.

What caused the tiff? Garner had said the minister should let go of his transport portfolio and focus on being the Earthquake Recovery Minister; Brownlee boycotted his RadioLive show.

The snub went on for months, until Garner sent a dove of peace on Valentine's Day. Well, more like a dozen red roses, a box of chocs and a note reading: "I miss you. I want you back on the programme. We've been through too much. Let's make up on this special day."

Blogger Cameron Slater last week sent Labour MP Annette King a bunch of flowers thanking her for promoting his Whaleoil blog in Parliament. She had attacked the blog in Parliament the day before. He said it was good publicity. She called the flowers "miserable" and joked she was looking for bugs in the gerberas.
