The Diary: Secret Conchords song unveiled tonight

Flight of the Conchords will reveal their latest musical tribute on telly tonight. Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement have written a song for Red Nose Day: Comedy for Cure Kids which screens on TV3.

The musical comedy pair have called the song Feel Inside (And Stuff Like That). They finished it during the weekend and filmed the video on Monday, before jetting overseas to other commitments.

Black Eyed Peas writer and producer Printz Board has collaborated on the song, and Che Fu's 6-year-old son Marley wrote the chorus.

The song's lyrics come from primary school children at Clyde Quay School in Wellington and Grey Lynn School in Auckland, who were interviewed by McKenzie and Clement about their feelings on fundraising for the cause.

"The Flight of the Conchords were initially approached to play a small part in the show, much like many others, but they immediately wanted to do more and offered to write the song," said Cure Kids spokeswoman Hayley McLarin. "It is heart-warming and funny. It will make you laugh and cry."

Musicians Dave Dobbyn, Anika Moa, Savage, Elizabeth Marvelly, PNC, Boh Runga, Zowie, Nathan King, Peter Urlich and Brooke Fraser will form a supergroup of sorts to sing Feel Inside. The song will be available on iTunes tonight with a percentage of the money going to the charity.

EX-ALL BLACK COOKS UP TALK SHOW

Stay-at-home dad Josh Kronfeld is swapping rugby punditry for cooking tips and book clubs as he hosts a new morning talk show largely targeting women.

The hour-long Brunch programme, also featuring April Ieremia, will air on weekdays on the Freeview channel Choice TV from September 24, with a highlights edition on Saturdays.

Talking book clubs and culinary dishes is a long way from scrums and rucks for the All Black legend, who lent his expertise as a rugby commentator at last year's World Cup.

Executive producer Debra Kelleher, who worked with Kronfeld on Dancing with the Stars, said he was a natural choice. "Josh has many aspects to his personality. He's an artist, he likes to paint. Plus, he surfs and is a devoted family man. He shows it's cool to be a stay-at-home dad."

The former All Black flanker is known for his refreshingly honest views. He says he's proud of being a stay-at-home dad and hopes to bring his parenting experiences to the show.

"Being a parent is tough. I knew I wanted to be a parent after my rugby career, and I wanted to find the right woman to have children with," Kronfeld told The Diary.

"Bronwyn [Illingworth, Kronfeld's partner] owns her own business and she's ambitious and hardworking. So there was less reason for her to stay at home and look after our young son. There's quite a few of us stay-at-home dads!"

He admits he's nervous about entering the unknown territory of daytime TV.

"April will be my security blanket. But, you know, I am just going to be me. I have a curious nature, and I'm going to say what I think and ask the questions that I want."

FASHION WEEK - INSIDE, OUTSIDE

It seems hijacking Fashion Week is the trend du jour. Karen Walker, who opted out of the trade show this year, pouts back from the cover of Next magazine channelling a young Alexa Chung. Pebbles Hooper played cover girl too, while her folks, Denise L'Estrange-Corbet and Francis Hooper von World, took over The Langham on Wednesday night with a lavish show.

Even TV3 has adopted the usurp trend. MediaWorks is the official media sponsor of Fashion Week, which starts on September 3. TV3 will stream videos of the collections on its website, but the network is also unveiling a sassy new show that's expected to pull in big traffic numbers.

Front Row will be a daily internet show hosted by fashionista Kate Rodger that will bitch and snitch about all the sartorial happenings at Fashion Week - on the runway and in the front row.

Hitting the beat alongside Rodger, I'm told, will be former Top Model judge Colin Mathura-Jeffree and Metro fashion writer Rebecca Wadey.

A special guest will join the team each day and names are hush-hush, but The Diary hears social media queen Pebbles may star.
