Dave Brown, who was heavily involved in the show as Bollo the ape, tweeted:
If anything is going to happen we will let you know or we'll let @thevelvetonion know. Sorry x
From what I can see the source is The Mail? Nuff said x
The absurdist duo rebooted their alter egos, zookeepers Vince Noir and Howard Moon, for a few London warm-up gigs in September, as well as playing a half hour set at Jack Black's Festival Supreme in California.
Fielding has dismissed the rumoured reunion plans on Twitter through an unveiled attack on the story's original source:
I'd rather have my balls dipped in acid than speak to the Mail x
Fielding first hinted at a movie in 2008, when he said: "A film is the first thing we ever wanted to do, so we've always come up with ideas and stuck them in a drawer.
"Now comedy films like Shaun of the Dead have really opened a lot of doors. We wanna make something pretty epic like The Wizard of Oz; something huge and psychedelic with lots of music and animation in it. A big epic fantasy world."
The eccentric comedian has previously revealed that two Mighty Boosh film scripts have been written in the past but never produced.
One was an Arctic adventure "because we liked the Arctic" and another a "Rocky Horror Picture Show-type thing" in which Barratt wakes up and believes he is the last man on earth.
In 2011, Fielding also confirmed that a full album of songs had been recorded, but again, this has never been officially released.
