Terminator 4 director admits mistakes

Terminator Salvation director McG has owned up to making mistakes with his highly criticised addition to the action movie franchise.

The Charlie's Angels director says he "poured everything I had" into the fourth film in the series - which starred Christian Bale as John Connor - but admits that "we did a lot wrong".

"I feel like we did a lot right with Terminator, and I feel like we did a lot wrong," he told Collider.com.

"I really tried to deliver and do the best I could, with making that film. It worked for a lot of people. A lot of people didn't like the ending. You live and learn.

"We did the best we could. I poured everything I had into that picture."

McG, who is now working on the Tom Hardy action-comedy film This Means War, also says he wants to release a director's cut of Terminator Salvation.

"There's some outstanding footage out there, and we'll see if there's a director's release to come, in the future.

"You never know. Time will tell."

While it seems unlikely after the poor reviews and low box office takings of Terminator Salvation, McG also wants to see another Terminator film made.

"I love the Terminator franchise. I hope they make another one. We'll see where that takes us."

Terminator Salvation has just a 33 per cent approval rating on review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.
