"That, in the past, was a gateway to other things for me. I tried cocaine with alcohol ...
"I never felt good (but) the next day it allowed me to drink more. It was a party thing. People would have it, and I'd do it."
The star has been involved in several controversial incidents, including reckless driving and lying to police investigating her June 2012 car crash in Santa Monica, California.
Her rehab stint has reportedly helped turn Lohan's life around, and the actress tearfully spoke about her time at the Malibu centre.
"Having all the chaos around me that I was so comfortable with - I somehow inside of me knew I wanted to go in jail.
"I think that was subconsciously going on in my head through my actions just to have some peace. I came into it just really craving more spirituality, really open and ready to get really honest."
Lohan vowed she isn't taking any prescription drugs and is on "vitamins" only and Nexium to help with "acid reflux".
The star also takes full responsibility for everything that happened as a result of drink and drugs.
According to the Mean Girls actress, there is no way she will be returning to her wild child ways.
"I feel whole again ... and I have such a desire to want to keep this feeling and stay this way, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes," she said.
