The date's been set: Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok will begin filming on the Gold Coast on July 4.
Waititi and his cast - which includes fellow Kiwi Karl Urban and Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth - will be based at Village Roadshow Studios for the duration of the shoot, which isexpected to run until late-October, the Gold Coast Bulletin reports.
Waititi's all-star cast also includes Jeff Goldblum as The Grandmaster, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Cate Blanchett as Hela and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie.
Also said to be returning is Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Idris Elba as Heimdall and Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif.

Lead star Chris Hemsworth has spoken before about the lighter, comedic tone brought to the franchise by Waititi, telling fans at the Wizard World Philadelphia convention, "it is a lot of fun".
"I think tonally it's a big shift in a great way, more than anything we've seen before," he said.
"Taika Waititi, the director, if you know any of his work, yeah, he's just an incredible sort of comedic talent, a lot of heart in everything he does."
