Check out this exclusive first look at Taika Waititi's new film What We Do in the Shadows, also starring Jemaine Clement.
He might be busy making a superhero movie for Marvel, but Taika Waititi hasn't forgotten about his What We Do In the Shadows sequel.
"We want to do it, and we're coming up with story ideas," the Kiwi director told Entertainment Weekly.
What We Do In the Shadowswas a well-received 2014 mockumentary that followed a group of vampires flatting in Wellington.
The sequel - called We're Wolves - will follow a group of werewolves led by comedian Rhys Darby after their hilarious cameo in What We Do In the Shadows.
Waititi told EW the same actors would return, and admitted he had no idea what he was trying to do with the original, so the sequel should be much easier to make.
"The first film took us about seven years to make, and we don't want to do that again. It's a lot easier now that we have all the characters, and we know how we want to do it, and we know that we can do it," he said.
"The first time we were doing it, we had no idea what we were trying to do, really. It's not like we were inventing the mockumentary genre, but doing it with special effects, and trying to figure that all out, and make it funny, was a really, really long process."
Waititi is currently filming the big budget Thor film Ragnarok, due for release next year. His most recent film Hunt for the Wilderpeople is released in America this week.
