Rachel Bache takes on the excitement of Vivid Sydney. Here are today's highlights from day four of the festival.
1. Light Show at the MCA
Walking through the Light Show exhibit, hosted by the Museum of Contemporary Art, was a real treat. As if you couldn't get enough of the Vivid lights at night, now you can see even more weird and wonderful light installations and sculptures from artists
around the world. Rooms filled with bright neon colours, or illusions made with smoke and lasers or LEDs and mirrors, were incredible. Light Show also featured Kiwi artist Bill Culbert with his mysterious light bulb that appears to be on and off at the same time. Also, the view from the MCA's cafe looking out at the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera house was simply lovely.
2. Taking control at The Star
Pyrmont and The Star featured a Vivid Sydney Game Zone. Pyrmont Pyro allows anyone to bang the living daylights out of drums lined around the edge of the trees in the parks, each beat made created a digital firework that lit up the threes, filling them with colour. There was also Mission Control where you could create an awesome laser light show with the press of a button, controlling the numerous lights mounted at the top of The Star. While up in The Star's Sky Terrace there were video games, music and food to indulge in. The cocktails down at Balla, also inside The Star, were scrumptious.
