Support act's comments spark feud with Drake

Drake is apparently embroiled in a $US1.5 million ($A1.58 million) feud with his rapper support act.

The musician had hired 29-year-old hip-hop star Future to accompany him and Miguel on his series of Would You like a Tour? shows.

But Future reportedly compromised his position as a support act by speaking badly of the Take Care singer's latest album, Nothing Was the Same.

Billboard editor Erika Ramirez tweeted comments allegedly made by the rapper.

"Drake made an album that is full of hits but it doesn't grab you. They're not possessive; they don't make you feel the way I do.' - Future (sic)," she wrote.

According to New York Post, Drake demanded Future was kicked off the tour.

"He told his agent either Future gets fired, or he'll fire him," a source told Page Six.

Future is apparently set to file a lawsuit against Drake this week, as he was set to earn about $40,000 per show, which totals about $1.5 million over the 39-date tour.

After Erika's tweets, Future's managers argued his comments were made off the record and taken out of context.

While the online story was apparently edited, her posts on Twitter were not removed.

The New York Post tried to reach reps for both musicians, but neither had a comment.

A Billboard rep said: "We regret that miscommunication surrounding Future's recent visit, one that seemed clear to us was on the record, may have caused any trouble for the artist."

It's not the first time Drake has had beef with a fellow rapper.

He was previously involved in a rivalry with Chris Brown, said to be over Rihanna, which ended in a violent brawl.

However, Drake and Brown are said to have buried the hatchet and are apparently even planning a musical collaboration.
