KEY POINTS:
Nerdy teen comedy Superbad will take on teen pregnancy tale Juno in a bid for movie supremacy at next month's MTV Movie Awards.
Superbad tops the list of nominations, scoring five nods for Best Movie; Best Comedic Performance (Jonah Hill); and three bids in the Best Newcomer category,
for Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Michael Cera.
Juno also fared well, earning Cera another two nominations for Best Male Performance as well as for Best Kiss for the smooch between he and lead actress Ellen page. Juno is also up for Best Movie and Best Female Performance for Page.
Rounding out the nominees in the Best Movie category are National Treasure: Book of Secrets, I Am Legend, Transformers and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
Other notable nominees are Angelina Jolie for Best Villain (Beowulf), Johnny Depp for both Best Comedic Performance (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End) and Best Villain (Sweeney Todd), Zac Efron for Best Breakthrough Performance (Hairspray) and Tobey Maguire and James Franco for Best Fight (Spider-Man 3).
The outcome of awards are in the hands of viewers, with winners voted for online at MovieAwards.MTV.com.
Austin Powers funny man Mike Myers will host the awards, which take place on June 1.
