GAME OF THRONES (Neon)
We're aware we're already dangerously close to prematurely hitting peak Game of Thrones (and it hasn't even started!) but no streaming guide is complete this week without a mention of the eighth and final season of this television epic. Fans have been waiting nearly 10 yearsto see how everything will wrap up this season so to say its return is highly anticipated is an understatement. There's not much more to add that you haven't already heard so just gather your wine goblets, don a costume, dress your cat up like a dragon and get viewing. The first episode of the new season lands on Monday and will air weekly after that.
OUR PLANET (Netflix)
Now if you're really just not on the Thrones bandwagon, there are plenty more viewing options to busy yourself with this week. Most notable is Netflix's new series Our Planet, narrated by the one and only David Attenborough. Not only is it ridiculously beautiful to look at, it comes with the artful storytelling we've come to expect from Attenborough, as well as an important message about sustainability and the real impact humans are having on our planet. Don't worry, it's not a preachy guilt trip, it's just facts and surprisingly, hope - that it's not too late to fix our mistakes. Available to binge in full now.
If you didn't get the opportunity to see Peter Jackson's Bafta-nominated and critically acclaimed documentary They Shall Not Grow Old, now's your chance. The World War I doco features original and previously unseen footage from the Imperial War Museum's archives, as well as first hand accounts from men who served in the conflict. It only had a very limited cinematic release but never fear, it's just landed on Lightbox so you can watch it for yourself - or re-watch - to your heart's content.
THE BACHELOR UK (TVNZ On Demand)
Sometimes you just want something light and a little trashy and reality fans will no doubt be searching for something to fill the MAFS-shaped-holes in their viewing schedules after this week. Cue The Bachelor UK, returning for a third season on TVNZ On Demand. Follow this season's lucky bachelor - Alex Marks - as he searches for love with 25 women in front of a bunch of cameras for your entertainment. If you've never seen the UK's take on this hit series, now's your chance to see if they're as mild-mannered as people seem to think, or if things will get just as wild as ever. Streaming from Tuesday.
