The plane joins the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (designed on the iconic R2-D2 robot), which was first shown in April, and which will begin operation in October along the Tokyo-Vancouver route in Canada.

Later, the R2-D2 Jet will cover routes between Japan and other cities such as Seattle, Munich, Paris, Brussels, Sydney, Beijing and Jakarta.
"I'm sure (Star Wars) fans across the world will love the look," ANA president Osamu Shinobe said in a statement.
The initiative falls under a five-year partnership, signed in April between the airline and Walt Disney that owns the rights to the saga.
