The new trailer for local hip-hop dance movie starring Stan Walker expands on the forthcoming film's storyline and gets in a few Auckland jokes among the fast-cut choreography.
"Tu's in love with a Shore girl," teases Walker's character about the film's lead, Tu, played by Tia-Taharoa Maipi in the debutfeatured by actor-turned director Tammy Davis.
Tu lives in Papakura with soldier dad who wants his teenage son to join him in the army.
But rebellious dance-mad Tu has signed up for auditions for "the best hip-hop crew in New Zealand" hoping it will be his career.
Already part of the crew is "Shore girl" Sasha, the girlfriend of K-Crew's leader. Sasha is played by American import Kherington Payne whose past credits include the 2009 remake of Fame .
Singing star Walker plays Tu's best mate Benjy in what's his second feature film role after 2013's reggae-powered local hit Mt Zion.
The movie is choreographed by Parris Goebel and features many of the young dancers she has trained into world hip-hop dance champions.
Goebel's own career has taken her around the world to choreograph for a Jennifer Lopez tour as well as appear in 2014 Hollywood dance flick Step Up: All In.
