Multi-millionaire Seeby Woodhouse has split from his wife of one year, Geraldine Burnett.
In a week when it was confirmed two high-profile young Kiwi couples - chart-topper Lorde and her long-time boyfriend James K Lowe, and Max Key and Amelia Finlayson had gone their separate ways - Spy can reveal the marriage of 38-year-old Woodhouse and 26-year-old Burnett is over. They had been together for almost five years.
"Geraldine and I have recently returned to Auckland after a great few months travelling South America to Peru, Colombia and Brazil," Woodhouse told Spy on their behalf.
"We have decided to separate after a great relationship of almost five years together. We remain very good friends and wish each other the very best for our respective futures."
Woodhouse became one of Auckland's most-eligible young bachelors virtually overnight when he sold Orcon for $24.3 million in 2007.
He found love with Burnett and they became engaged in 2014. Woodhouse told Spy at the time his betrothed was the full package, was super smart, and was one of the most beautiful girls in New Zealand.
Woodhouse found the engagement ring in San Francisco, revealing: "It's the not kind of ring you'd find in New Zealand. It's between 150 and 200 years old with a beautiful light yellow diamond and a few smaller diamonds. It's around 10 carats. A jeweller in San Francisco believes it once belonged to the famous American socialite Lillie Hitchcock Coit."
Woodhouse proposed to Burnett at the famous Burning Man Festival in the Nevada desert. The couple married in December 2014 in a fabulous Queenstown wedding attended by Woodhouse's dear friend and Michaiah Simmons-Villari and her then-fiance, celebrity chef Luca Villari.
In turn, Woodhouse and Burnett attended the couple's picturesque wedding last September in Italy.
Spy wishes Woodhouse and Burnett well for their respective futures.
