Prince Harry finished up his official engagements last week and promptly sneaked off for a secret night out at Harbourside Restaurant at Auckland's Viaduct.
The Prince arrived with an entourage of 10 who ate in the private dining room. Spy understands there was an absolute ban on any photographs -but Harry still insisted on obliging two children who spotted him and asked for a snap.
A source close to the restaurant told Spy they knew something was up three weeks ago, when officials started to case the upmarket seafood restaurant, which features 180-degree views of the Hauraki Gulf. Harry and the diplomatic protection squad caused excitement among guests when they arrived at the restaurant at 7.30pm.
So what did Harry eat? We can definitely say he didn't take the dive into oysters after shucking them in Southland but turning up his nose at eating them. Instead, the Prince dined on house specialties, including fish. What was booked as a quick one-hour dinner before his flight turned into a two-hour feast.
