The best time I've had on set was … I've had many, but right now I'm gonna go with a show I performed in at Hyde Park, London, for Queen Elizabeth II's golden jubilee celebration 2002. I remember coming out on stage to a rousing haka put on by the crowd made up of many (seemed like a million) ex-pat Mari and Kiwis, it was an exhilaratingly proud moment.
But the worst was … too many of these, but I'm gonna a go with a show I did in Christchurch with Supergroove in the mid-90s. We used to have a mini-tramp on stage, for no other reason other than to jump around on while we performed. During the set the front row started chanting "mini-tramp, mini-tramp ..." so without thinking, we moved the contraption to the front edge of the stage. Not long into it, a young man made a big dive, the crowd parted, and he landed face-first on the solid floor. The noise of him landing was so loud: "SMACK!" We all just stopped playing, mid-song. We ended the show then and there, and my last memory of the gig was mopping up a lot of blood - yeesh! The young man ended up okay. I think ...
