My first job was: stacking cases of booze into shipping containers
It taught me… to appreciate that time is short and not to be wasted on anything you aren't passionate about.
My big break came… while travelling overseas and being called on to play Laneway Fest in 2016.
The lastjob I quit was… as an engineering assistant on a large-scale wine bottling factory. I quit because I could finally support myself solely with music.
The most famous person I've ever met is… Zane Lowe. I came through the Apple Music headquarters and had a meeting with him and his team so they could listen to some of the music. I was so nervous but everyone turned out to be less intimidating than expected and they loved what they heard.
He was... delightful. He spews confidence and passion. It was so empowering to see a Kiwi leading a charge over there.
The best time I've had on stage is… at my first show at Silo Park, which was in an actual silo for Laneway Fest. There was no pressure, nothing to live up to, it was just pure fun.
But the worst was… my first American show in Philadelphia. I was first on the bill so I was playing to the bar staff and about five punters. Made even worse by the fact that I tripped over my audio cords, pulled everything out and had to spend five minutes making small talk on the microphone while I figured the cable mess out. Nightmare!
