Six60 at Western Springs: Everything you need to know

The first New Zealand band to headline a sold-out concert in Western Springs will go on stage at the Auckland venue this Saturday, in front of 50,000 fans.

With so many people attending, it pays to read up on the event before you go, to make sure you're prepared.

"We've got an amazing line-up of support acts taking the stage from 5pm, with Six60 on from 8.50pm. It promises to be a very special night and we're excited to be sharing it with so many Six60 fans," promoter Dave Munro said.

Here's are the 10 things you need to know before you go:

1. Ticketmaster is the only authorised ticket seller for the event. If you've bought your ticket from a different website, make sure it's legitimate or you might be refused entry.

2. Say hello to the cameras when you spot them. A documentary about the band will be filmed on Saturday so your attendance to this gig could very well be recorded for posterity.

3. At the event, should you ever feel like your safety is at risk, or if you require any type of assistance, text the word ASSIST followed by a space and then your message and location to 260. Alternatively, you can ask for "Angela" at the bars, food stalls or any venue staff. They'll know you're asking for help discreetly and they'll know how to assist you.

4. The timings that matter are as follows: Gates open at 4pm. ILLBaz perform at 5pm, followed by SWIDT at 5.30, Sons of Zion at 6.20pm and Drax Project an hour later, at 7.20pm. Six60 will go up on stage at 8.50pm and the event will finish at 11pm.

5. You can use public transport for free to get to the event. The Northern Express (NX 1 and 2) as well as direct special event buses and trains are all included with your event ticket (so make sure you keep it for your ride home as well). The special event buses depart from outside 4 Mayoral Drive, behind Aotea Centre. Near Western Springs, they'll run from a temporary bus stop on Williamson Ave (between Great North Rd and Dryden St).

6. If you're getting dropped off at the venue by someone, there will be a dedicated five-minute drop off and pick up zone located between St Lukes Road and Motions Road.

7. If you need onsite mobility parking, register by emailing your mobility parking permit number to bookings@aucklandstadiums.co.nz. You will also be required to present your mobility permit to traffic control staff on the day for access so keep that handy as well.

8. Speaking of driving and parking, there are a number of road closures in place around the venue so it pays to know your route in advance. Road closures will be as follows:

• Stadium Rd: from 7am on Thurs 21 Feb until 1am on Sun 24 Feb.
• Bullock Track: from 7am on Sat 23 Feb until 1am on Sun 24 Feb
• West View Rd: from midday on Sat 23 Feb until 1am on Sun 24 Feb
• Old Mill Rd (between Francis St and Sherwood Ave): from 2pm on Sat 23 Feb until 1am on Sun 24 Feb.
• Great North Rd (St Lukes Rd to Bond St): from 7pm Sat 23 Feb until 1am on Sun 24 Feb.
• Tuarangi Rd: Residents Access Only via Mountain View Rd from 8pm Sat 23 Feb until 1am on Sun 24 Feb.
• Williamson Ave (Northland St to Great North Rd): from 8pm Sat 23 Feb until 1am on Sun 24 Feb.
• Surrey Cres (Prime Rd to Great North Rd): from 8pm Sat 23 Feb until 1am on Sun 24 Feb.

9. Heavy rain is on the forecast so pack your best festival poncho.

10. There is a list of items that are forbidden at the event. The list includes: any bags larger than A3 size, video cameras and recording devices (this does not include mobile phones), cameras with a lens larger than a standard watch face, prams and strollers, selfie sticks, Go Pros, drones, banners with poles, iPads or any tablets, cans or glass of any kind, alcohol or any illicit drugs, branded or commercial food and drinks (this includes takeaways), metal utensils and containers, chilly bins, coolers, as well as the usual dangerous goods such as fireworks, lasers, flash lights, knives, tasers, mace, chains and studded jewellery. Offensive weapons are also forbidden, this includes anything that could be a projectile. Air horns and loud hailers must also stay home as well as umbrellas and other sun or rain shelters, chairs or stools, skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles or scooters, animals (this excludes service dogs) and any unauthorised promotional and marketing items.
