British actress

Sienna Miller

has opened up about her somewhat controversial love life and blasted claims she's promiscuous - insisting she's never been a fan of casual sex.

Miller, who was widely criticised for her relationship with married oil heir and actor

Balthazar Getty

, says she's made "bad choices" and done "stupid things" in her sex life, but "never had a one-night stand". Yep, she's either boasting or complaining.

The

Factory Girl

actress also confirms that

their romance is dead and buried

, and concedes that topless snaps of her cavorting with Getty in Italy last year has tainted her career prospects.

Looking for love...in all the wrong places

She tells

US Vogue

magazine, "We have to be honest about it, it's pretty bad. On the whole, you know, I've made some bad choices and done some stupid things."

Miller, who also counts actors

, and indie-rock heartthrob

Jamie Burke

among her past conquests, also says she's a hopeless romantic and falls in love at the drop of a hat.

"I'm a real relationship person - contrary to public perception. I'm either in one or I'm not. I get emotionally involved very quickly, and I'm not going to spend time with someone unless I love them. But it's not hard for me to fall in love," she reveals.

She adds: "

I've actually never been taken on a date in my whole life and never had a one-night stand

."

The blonde bombshell says she was shocked by the reaction to her Getty romance.

In a reflective mood, she adds: "I think I was really naive and trusting and thinking that if you are true to yourself, that's enough, that's the best way to be. But actually, it's important to become more conscious.

"Being the centre of a lot of judgment and controversy while not feeling like a hurtful or controversial person in my essence, I'm trying to understand what it is that makes me that way and what it is that makes people feel that way about me."

Video: Ten questions with Sienna Miller

Although Miller split from former love Law in 2006 - after he cheated on her with his children's nanny - she says the experience has helped her grow.

"I think I discovered a whole new emotional depth that I didn't have access to before. When you have your heart broken for the first time, you gain depth," she said, adding, "And that's why actors tend to get better with age, I think."

But that's about as far as she's willing to go down the Law track.

"It's dangerous to bring this up," Miller says. "I talked about him in an interview not long ago, saying that I still love him, and he was like, 'Please stop talking about it.'"

"This was going to be the first interview where I was going to try to be guarded and detached, not give anything away, and actually I realise that it's irrelevant," she continues. "You have to be yourself ... That was a very pivotal time in my life, and I'm happy saying that. It's a private moment when you get your heart broken for the first time, and that was the absolute antithesis of private. It couldn't have been more public!"

At the time, she says, "I had people on the street being like, 'Ang in there, loov!' and all you want to do is crawl into a cave and weep for a week."

And of her split with

Welsh scruffian Rhys Ifans

, she says: "I really thought I was very ready to settle down, but then I realised I wanted to be selfish for just a little bit longer."

We're still scratching our heads over the no-dating thing - how the hell does she manage to hook up with someone and get to know them romantically if she's not dating? Osmosis?

dumped her beau Doug Reinhardt

(the man she bleated on about marrying and having babies with), then

hooked up with soccer hottie Cristiano Ronaldo

, the dumpee is firing back at the dumper.

In response to media requests for comment following the split, Reinhardt's rep had this to say: "

Doug refuses to take part in this ridiculous media circus. He wishes Paris and all of her future boyfriends the best of luck

." Brilliant! Stick that in your Prada handbag, Hilton.
