First there was Grindr, a geolocation-aware social network that helped gay men hook up, then Tinder took the same idea and targeted hetero couples - there's even Cuddlr (now rebranded as Spoonr) for those who just want to snuggle. But now in development there's Rumblr for peoplewho want a casual fight instead. Swipe through other angry young men in your area who are in a similar weight category and it's all on. And any good rumble needs an audience to egg on the idiots, so you can use this app for that too. "Rumblr's app isn't available just yet - presumably it's having a bit of trouble making its way through Apple's notoriously stringent approval process - but you can sign up now to be the first punchdrunk loon in your area," says Quirker's Michael Moran.

Tony Gavigan writes: "It has been widely reported that Michelle Payne was the fourth woman to have ridden in the Melbourne Cup. She was the fifth, and the fourth with Kiwi ties. Clare Lindop rode Dolphin Jo in 2007, and in the same year Kiwi Lisa Cropp rode Sculptor. The other two Kiwis are Linda Ballantyne in 1989 and Maree Lyndon on Argonaut Style in 1987. Two women have now ridden saddle cloth 19 - Michelle and Linda. I know this because Linda was legged up in 1989 on our horse Plume D'or Veille, trained by Robert Priscott."
Modesty at Palmers Garden centre, Orakei, (hat tip Michael Sheppard)?
Laing Wood, from Burswood, remembers a few classic awkward moments on National Radio. He writes: "There was Aunt Daisy's cooking show, which came from 2ZB in Wellington, broadcast nationwide. Her opening greeting one morning was 'Good morning, good morning, it's a lovely morning this morning, the sun is shining right up my back passage!' The other was a live broadcast from Lyttelton, where a new inter-island ferry was about to sail on its first trip to Wellington. Again, 3ZB, nationwide from Christchurch. A rubbernecker wandered up to the radio announcer while he was doing his live cast from the ship, and asked, in all seriousness, where to find the golden rivet. The announcer was momentarily stunned, then replied 'Ask any sailor, lady, ask any sailor!'"
