Dentist pulls crazy stunt
In the course of pursuing claims against Alaskan dentist Seth Lookhart for Medicaid fraud, government investigators found a video on his phone of him extracting a sedated patient's tooth - while riding on a hoverboard. He had apparently sent the video to his office manager under the title "New Standard of Care". Lookhart had been indicted in 2016 for billing Medicaid US$1.8 million ($2.5m) for patient sedations unnecessary for the procedures they received. (Source: News of the Weird).
"Wednesday morning at low tide south end of Browns Bay beach I spoke to a couple who had gathered three large plastic bags full of every living reef animal totalling several hundred at a guess and leaving not a single crab, snail or any creature for many square metres in all directions of where they stood. I convinced them to return the animals but after emptying one bag they then scurried away with the remaining two. A reader writes: "If you go to the beaches off Vietnam, or Thailand the total absence of any form of shellfish life on the rocks is glaring. Poverty is the reason and scavenging for anything to eat free is simply a way of life. The important local eco-pyramids are destroyed and the only fish that are off the shoreline are sharks."

Good read: "In 1965, "granny gowns" became the favorite fashion among teenage girls. These featured long, ankle-length skirts, long sleeves, and high, round necklines. They were seen as a reaction against miniskirts and other skin-revealing fashions...In November, 1965 one girl got sent home from school for wearing a granny gown - told it violated the school policy against "extreme clothing."
