American actor Shia LaBeouf has been arrested for his involvement in a New Orleans brawl during Mardi Gras celebrations, just as reports emerged he has split from wife Mia Goth.
The 39-year-old got into an altercation with two men as he was removed from local establishment Royal Street Inn andBar, punching one repeatedly before he was held down by onlookers.
The New Orleans Police Department said police were called to the scene just after midnight and took LaBeouf to hospital, where he was arrested after receiving treatment, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
He has been charged with two counts of simple battery in relation to the incident.
Page Six also reported this morning that he and independent film actress wife Mia Goth have been separated for about a year, prompting his move from Los Angeles to New Orleans.
The couple were on and off throughout the course of their nine-year marriage, filing for divorce in 2018 before being seen wearing their wedding rings again in 2022.
They welcomed a daughter together, Isabel, in 2022.

The troubled movie star has been public about his struggles with alcoholism in the wake of allegations he has abused several of his previous partners, the Guardian reported.
British singer FKA twigs sued the Transformers star in 2020 for his “relentless abuse”, alleging he exposed her to a sexually transmitted infection and was physically violent with her during their relationship.
LaBeouf denied the allegations but admitted he had “been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years”.
“I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say,” he said in a statement.
In 2022, a letter he had written Olivia Wilde amidst his firing from her film Don’t Worry Darling was published in Variety, revealing he was more than a year and a half sober.
“I write to you now with 627 days of sobriety and a moral compass that never existed before my great humbling that was the last year and a quarter of my life”, he wrote, “my failings with Twigs are fundamental and real, but they are not the narrative that has been presented”.
But when he arrived at the popular bar Ms Mae’s this week, doorman Robert Skuse told The Hollywood Reporter the actor was shirtless and appeared to be drunk, adding that “he did the ‘Do you know who I am? bit”.
LaBeouf left the venue without further incident after initially attempting to “celebrity” bartend for customers, only to later antagonise other patrons in the French Quarter.
He will reportedly be appearing in a local court as the city’s Mardi Gras celebrations begin winding down.
