And so to the rumour that alarm bells are ringing for Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne's marriage.

Per a report in British tabloid The Sun over the weekend, the couple are said to be "living apart" and their friends now fear for their 31-year marriage.

According the tab, the 64-year-old veteran rocker and The Talk co-host, 60, haven't seen each other for three weeks since they both moved out of the Los Angeles home they once shared.

Ozzy has reportedly shacked up in a rented pad after the sale of their mansion in Hidden Hills earlier this year, and Sharon is living in a hotel two miles away while her new Beverly Hills home is being renovated, The Sun reports.

"Friends described the arrangement as 'highly unusual' for a couple known for being so close," adds the tab.

Said a source: "They are living at different addresses and not spending any time together. They row a lot.

"They aren't acting like husband and wife. It is unusual to not even have dinner together when both of them are five minutes apart."

Both have also been spotted without their wedding rings recently. Sharon was spied without her finger bling when she met daughter Kelly for lunch at Hollywood's Ivy restaurant last week.

Two days later, Ozzy was snapped sans ring as he filmed an appearance on US television series CSI with his Black Sabbath bandmates in LA.

The couple's relationship is also about to be "put under further strain," stirs the tabloid in its report.

Ozzy injured in house fire

Ozzy's about to jet off to tour Australia and New Zealand with his Black Sabbath bandmates this week, and then there's Sharon's rumoured X Factor UK comeback. She's hotly tipped to return to the show's judging panel when the new series starts filming later this year.

The source added: "Sharon and Ozzy have had plenty of opportunities to meet up but haven't spent any time together at all.

"Sharon films The Talk four days a week and Ozzy has been rehearsing but they've both had days off and still not seen one another.

"It's pretty unusual for a married couple to spend such a long time apart, especially when they both have drivers and can be at each other's houses in five minutes."

And the Mirror's singing a similar tune. It too notes the absence of wedding bling of late, and claims the pair has "made no effort" to spend time with each other "after a bust-up over cash problems and an unpaid tax bill".

Chimed a source: "The financial situation has been a real burden for them both and has put huge strain on them.

"These were big bills, and it has been very difficult for both of them."

The source added: "As anyone who has watched them on TV will know, they're no strangers to rows, but they've been under a lot of pressure recently.

"What makes things even harder for them is that they've both got huge work commitments for the rest of the year which stand in the way of them spending much time together.

"It's a shame because they really need some quality time to sort things out. They have had plenty of chances to see each other, but don't seem to have made any effort to do so."

But here's the deal on the relationship rumours: A rep says there is no rift in their marriage.

"They've both got huge work commitments. She is at the hotel for work and he is starting his Black Sabbath tour," said Sharon's spokesperson, Gary Farrow.

"Of course they row but they are still together. Sharon and Ozzy have spent long periods of time apart before when she was working in the UK. The marriage is not on the rocks."

He added: "They're like that. It's the Osbournes, not the Waltons."

The couple's son Jack also took to Twitter to trash the reports.

"It's all bullshit," he wrote yesterday. "Last time I check [sic] a lot of British news papers weren't amazing sources of accurate information. Moving on..."

Black Sabbath are set to play two shows at Auckland's Vector Arena on April 20 and 22.
