Selena Gomez has hit back at comments made by Lorde after the Kiwi singer branded one of the US pop star's songs as anti-feminist.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine Lorde, a feminist, revealed she did not like the way Gomez portrayed women in her trackCome And Get It.
The former child star has now responded to the remarks during an interview on US radio station Hot 99.5, in which she questions Lorde's take on feminism.
"I appreciate everybody's opinion, especially because I've covered Lorde's music lots of times. I think she is super talented and I think it's awesome ... But in my opinion it's not feminism if you're tearing down another artist," Gomez said.
In an interview with Radio New Zealand's Kim Hill, Lorde, who turns 17 in November, elaborated on her belief about Come And Get It.
"I think a lot of pop music and how females are portrayed in pop music is not a super healthy thing and I try and stay away from it," she said.
"A song came out recently by a big pop star and the lyrical thing is 'when you're ready come and get it, I'll be sitting right here just waiting' and I just find that so pathetic and I don't think girls should be listening to that kind of thing and I don't think that is normal or healthy."
Lorde has also criticised Justin Bieber for providing a false depiction of what it's like to be a teenager and star producer David Guetta, who she called "gross" in an interview with Metro magazine.
