Jennifer Lawrence undertakes a sleek new persona in the new trailer for Red Sparrow, an upcoming spy thriller in which the actress plays a Russian intelligence officer.
Currently appearing as a doe-eyed housewife in the visceral Darren Aronofsky horror mother!, Lawrence goes full femme fatale in the Red Sparrow trailer,
playing spy Dominika Egorova.
The film follows Egorova, a former ballerina who is recruited to a 'Sparrow School', a Russian intelligence service where she learns to use her body as a weapon.
Her first mission targeting a CIA agent reportedly throws her into a tangled intelligence plot that threatens the US and Russia.
The film is based on the novel of the same name by Jason Matthews, but according to the Hollywood Reporter, the screenplay cut parts of the plot that involved Vladmir Putin for fear of Russia hacking Hollywood studios in retaliation.
