"Geraldine, I cannot tell you, I have been absolutely inundated with emails and messages about how much we look alike. And I had to look at the photo myself. Holy crap."
The star then invited the grandmother to meet up for a drink.
"I saw that you were, quote, 'drunk as a skunk' when taking that photo, and I would like to see your drunk face," the actress teased.
She continued: "I want to share a drunk face with you. Let's have a drink, Geraldine."
The Lost In Translation star is next due on the big screen in comedy Rough Night, and Johansson clearly thought the release of the film gave her the perfect reason to meet her.
"I would like to invite you to - do you want to come and see Rough Night with me? Be my guest? We're a bunch of partying girls so it's a running theme."
The generous star even offered to foot the bill for Geraldine to attend.
"I'll cover all of your hidden costs. I'll see you at the bar. Be there or be square!" she concluded.
After sharing the video online, denverjoe told Reddit readers that his grandmother was "literally jaw-dropping dumbfounded" by Johansson's invite.
He added, "We are so taking them up on their offer. My grandma can get down."
Johansson plays Jess in the dark comedy, alongside Kate McKinnon and Demi Moore.
