Award-winning actress Scarlett Johansson is rumoured to be staying in a Wellington suburb in the New Year but locals aren't fazed.

The Hollywood star is rumoured to be in the capital to shoot her next film, Ghost in the Shell at Miramar's Stone Street Studios.

A local shop owner was, however, unfazed about the star's reported arrival.

Seatoun clothing store Harry's Boutique has had many A-list stars come into the shop.

But manager Wendy Croskery said she "didn't want to make a fuss".

"We've had Miranda Kerr and Evangeline Lilly come into the store.

"They were so nice. So lovely," she said.

She said she didn't want to make them feel uncomfortable.

"They themselves don't want to make a big fuss."

Ms Croskery said she hoped Johansson would make an appearance at her store.

She said Seatoun locals gave the stars privacy during their stay and they would often be seen grabbing coffee at the local cafe.

A local resident, who didn't want to be named, said Johansson may be staying at one of Peter Jackson's houses in Seatoun's Worser Bay.
