It's understood the site sits on the corner of Haig Avenue and Renfrew Avenue in Sandringham. The property, which currently features a three-bedroom bungalow on a 773sq m section, was recently auctioned through Barfoot and Thompson for an undisclosed amount. The latest council valuation lists the property's value at $1,040,000.
But while some residents are excited by the prospect, others are preparing a revolt.
Former MediaWorks music host Jane Yee tweeted her excitement after receiving one of the letters, writing: "Cannot contain my excitement that #TheBlockNZ will be shooting in my Neighbourhood. Construction! Houses! Dinner Wars! Wolfkamp!"
Fellow resident Matt Turner was less thrilled by the prospect, writing: "I'm sorry if The Block is coming to my street it's gonna be all trolls on deck."
Last year, the third season of The Block filmed in Pt Chevalier, attracting a record number of complaints to the council throughout the four-month shoot, with 111 complaints received. Of those, 64 concerned resource consent breaches and action was taken in five instances.
The show's fourth season will see former contestants return to compete against new teams with a special Fans vs Faves format, with some speculating the return of 2013 favourites, brothers Pete and Andy Walker.
