It was a role first played by Frank Sinatra in 1960. Then, George Clooney made the character his own in the 2001 reboot and its two sequels. Now, the adventures of Danny Ocean and his casino heists are returning to the big screen - with a twist.

There is no current release date for the project, but The Playlist adds that a draft has handed in by screenwriter Olivia Milch, who has previously worked on adaptations of Little Women and graphic novel Queen & Country.
The reboot comes after several other gender-flipped roles. Ghostbusters will be getting an all-female reboot next year starring Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy. Charlize Theron recently signed on to crime thriller The Grey Man, replacing Brad Pitt as the lead, while Tilda Swinton will play The Ancient One in Marvel's Doctor Strange, which was a male role in the comics.
This makes the second time Bullock has taken a role from her former Gravity co-star. The Oscar winning actress is currently starring in political comedy Our Brand is Crisis¸ playing a role originally meant for Clooney.
Ocean's Eleven was based around criminal Danny Ocean putting together an expert group in order to successfully rob a Las Vegas casino. The 2001 reboot also starred Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts, and grossed over NZ$669 million at the box office. There is no word on whether the two reboots will be linked, though Clooney will possibly reprise his role of Danny Ocean in a cameo appearance.
