Rose Matafeo has taken another step closer to world domination, as filming has begun on a new film she's starring opposite none other than Matthew Lewis.
Lewis is world famous for his role as the unlikely hero Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter film franchise.
Now, the pair will appear
together in a new movie from Taika Waititi's Piki Films titled Baby, Done.
The film follows the story of Zoe (Matafeo), a tree surgeon who becomes pregnant to her long-term boyfriend Tim (Lewis) and embarks on a mission to achieve all her dreams before becoming a mum.
The story is semi-autobiographical, inspired by the relationship between the film's writer Sophie Henderson (Human Traces, Fantail) and director Curtis Vowell (Fantail).
Matafeo says: "I'm super excited to be in a legit movie. I failed NCEA level 3 drama, so this is a big win for me personally. I've known and admired Sophie and Curtis since I was a little teen fan of the Auckland creative scene and it's a dream to be working with them, plus it's so nice to have to an excuse to come back to New Zealand so I can open all the mail my Nan has been saving for me."
Likewise, Lewis is "thrilled to be involved" saying he "fell in love" with the script and the team immediately.
