"He told his team to find a TV show that he could front or be involved in as a way of trying to reverse the public's horrendous perception of him."
It comes after Harris was spotted for the first time since being released from prison when he was pictured outside a police station in Windsor, Berkshire.
In 2014, he was convicted of 12 historic indecent assaults on four young girls between 1968 and 1986. Last month he was cleared of four indecent assault charges against three teenage girls between 1971 and 1983 after a jury failed to reach a verdict.
In a statement read by his lawyer Daniel Berke outside court, he said Harris wanted to be left "in peace" with his 85-year-old wife Alwen.
Harris said: "Whilst I'm pleased that this is finally all over, I feel no sense of victory, only relief. I'm 87 years old, my wife is in ill health and we simply want to spend our remaining time together in peace."
