Auckland anniversary weekend is going to be a busy one on the music front with the Laneway Festival on the Monday and new eco festival happening on the Sunday.
The Tuborg Summer Sunday Festival - which doubles as a coastal cleanup - will be held at Matakana Music Mountain (45minutes or so north of Auckland) with a line-up that includes Fly My Pretties, Kora, The Nudge, Little Bushman, Tahuna Breaks, Electric Wire Hustle, A Hori Buzz and @Peace. Tickets are on sale at 1-night.co.nz.
Meanwhile, chart-topping reggae drum 'n' bass rock act Six60 have announced the first dates of their tour starting in November in support of their debut album, released in October.
Rather than a traditional album release tour, the band have decided to tour the album throughout New Zealand - and Australia - over the next year and plan to play as many places as possible.
The first run of dates includes a show at Auckland's Powerstation on November 11. For tickets and a full list of tour dates, see six60.co.nz and ticketmaster.co.nz.
On a more old-school drum 'n' bass tangent, British pioneer Goldie plays three New Zealand shows in Auckland, Wellington and Queenstown this month.
Best known for ground-breaking drum 'n' bass masterpiece Timeless from 1995, he is also a part-time actor, having appeared in Guy Ritchie's Snatch and James Bond flick The World Is Not Enough.
He plans to re-record Timeless and turn it into a full live stage show complete with orchestra and choir. Goldie and his long-time vocalist MC LowQui play Auckland's Zen Nightclub on September 23. Tickets from iticket.co.nz, Beat Merchants and Real Groovy.
Also, Daryl Hall and John Oates, Icehouse and newly reunited local act Goodshirt team up for A Day On the Green winery concerts at Church Road, Napier, January 28, and Villa Maria Estate, Auckland, January 29.
And lastly, country pop princess Taylor Swift has already sold out two concerts at Vector Arena, with a third and final show announced for March 18.
