There might be a warm and fuzzy ending for star-crossed lovers Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart after all.

Either that or, as scandal sheet TMZ theorises, the well-oiled PR machine is firing on all cylinders.

Pattinson and Stewart were photographed together over the weekend for the first time since her well-documented dalliance with married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.

ETonline.com reports that the Twilight twosome were spied together with about 10 friends at Ye Rustic Inn, a bar in Los Angeles, on Sunday night.

The website published a grainy snap of Pattinson, 26, and Stewart, 22, together, and later posted video footage of their rendezvous - the couple's first documented outing since their relationship hit the skids in July.

Sources dish to the website that the pair spent more than four hours at the bar and "were in good spirits". Onlookers also reported that the pair "cozied up to each other".

Another source told Britain's The Sun: "There definitely wasn't any tension between them - Kristen gave Rob a couple of long looks and, when he went over, closed her eyes and put her head on his chest.

"At one point she came outside for a cigarette without him, but she looked distracted. She seemed much more relaxed when they left in the early hours."

Britain's Daily Mail also published a snap of Stewart and Pattinson hanging out with a group of pals after dining at a Hollywood restaurant on Monday.

The snapped sighting follows an earlier report that the duo hooked up at Hollywood's Chateau Marmont on Saturday.

Us Weekly reports that the pair made an "extremely low-key appearance" at the hotspot to celebrate a mutual pal's birthday on Saturday night.

The website quotes a source as saying the pair were "whispering very close and intimately" during the evening.

Chimed another: "They're afraid of backlash, so they're keeping things on the down-low".

Stewart and Pattinson are scheduled to participate in joint appearances to promote The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 in the coming weeks.

They're also expected to rock the red carpet at the movie's Hollywood premiere on November 12, and attend European screenings in London, Madrid and Berlin from November 14 to 16.

Speculation has been rife over what the promotion of the movie will be like. But it won't be a trainwreck, according to Stewart.

The starlet, making her first post-cheating scandal public appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, told the Associated Press that hitting the red carpet with Pattinson by her side won't be a problem for her.

"We're going to be fine," Stewart said. "We're totally fine."

Stewart suffered a widespread public backlash in July after she admitted cheating on Pattinson with Sanders.

"I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected," the actress said in a statement at the time.

"This momentary indiscretion has jeopardised the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob," Stewart continued. "I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."

Sanders, 41, is married to British Vogue model Liberty Ross, 33. They have two children together.
