Comedian Ricky Gervais is known for ruffling more than a few feathers, but he also knows when to apologise.
In this case, he's saying sorry in advance of his Golden Globe hosting duties next week, which have previously landed him in hot water.
Gervais posted a mock apology on Twitter
at the weekend, writing: "Because I can see the future, I'd like to apologise now for the things I said at next week's Golden Globes. I was drunk & didn't give a f***."
The controversial funnyman played host for three consecutive years from 2010, but vowed his appearance in 2012 would be his last.
That was until his return to the stage was announced last October.
