Shapeshifter celebrated the release of their sixth studio album in astronomical fashion last night with a performance atop of the Auckland Museum inside a cosmic cube.
Known for their summer anthems and sunshine tours the band played through songs off their freshly released album Stars to an ecstatic crowd, premieringtracks bound to be upcoming smashes.
All five of the goups members rocked the stage with their pure passion for music and love of performance on full display as they glided from one track to another with P. Digsss telling the energetic crowd "You guys are awesome."
Digsss was on form as his unmatchable vocals worked together with the Shapeshifter band-mates to get the crowd amped through the temporarily unfamiliar tracks.

For the last 17 years Shapeshifter have been making music together and last night defined the pure talent that has seen them ascend toward success since their inception. As the lights of the surrounding cube sheeting glistened all around, their music reminded us why Shapeshifter have still got it.
With the albums first single Stars already secured on high rotation for the sunshine filled days to come and Her surely soon to follow, the album is sure to be a feel-good go-to.
Having gone between Auckland and Christchurch to curate the new album the band say once they had narrowed down their best tracks they worked hard to produce something they were proud of.
"We had a group of about 100 song ideas. We spent six months solely focused on writing tunes and ideas, and 'Stars' was one of the 11 tracks that made it through to the end" explains Nick Robinson.
"Once we had our ideas locked down, we spent time in Roundhead Studios in Auckland producing it there with Dylan Jones and Jeremy Glenn from The Upbeats. We're ecstatic with the result. "
In addition to Shapeshifter's performance, guests were also invited to check out Auckland Museum's Volume exhibition, a showcase of New Zealand's journey through music. The display will be open until 22 May 2017 in the Special Exhibitions Hall.
