Reporter gives heckler a lesson over offensive phrase

A Toronto reporter who chewed out a heckler for yelling obscenities at her has been applauded for her actions.

City News reporter Shauna Hunt approached a group of men outside a Toronto FC game when they began yelling at her while she was setting up for a live cross.

The men had been yelling the offensive phrase 'FHRITP' at her - a trend that has risen in popularity after spreading on social media.

"Were you guys waiting around so you could 'F her in the P' on live TV?" Hunt asked the group.

"Seriously, it's a disgusting thing to say. It's degrading to women. I'm sick of this. I get this every single day, 10 times a day, by rude guys like you.

"When you talk into my microphone and say that into my camera to viewers at the station I work at, it's disrespectful and degrading to me."

The National Post reported power company employee was later fired for making the comments.

Hunt's supporters took to Twitter to applaud her comments.

The 'FHRITP' trend started in January 2014 when young reporter John Cain was fired for saying the offensive phrase without realising he was on air.

It has been copied many times and YouTube is full of copycats who use the stunt during reporters' live crosses.
