Reality TV star Kristin Cavallari rushed to hospital

Kristin Cavallari was hospitalised after a car accident, it has been reported.

According to TMZ.com, the 29-year-old reality television star turned designer was in her car in Chicago when it was struck by another vehicle.

The outlet claims Cavallari was rushed to hospital to be treated for her minor injures. While she is not believed to have suffered any lasting injuries from the accident, she is said to be sore all over.

Her husband, sports star Jay Cutler, showed up at the hospital to be with his wife shortly after the crash.

None of Cavallari's three children were present at the time of the incident.

TMZ adds police officers are currently at the hospital compiling a report of exactly what happened.

It has been a difficult few months for Cavallari, whose brother Michael was found dead in Utah last December after having been missing for a fortnight.

Following her tragic loss, Cavallari said she was seeking solace in her children, and her newborn daughter Saylor.

She wrote on Instagram: "My little angel, Saylor. She has been my light throughout this whole thing and has given me so much strength.

Thank you baby girl for coming when u did."

Cavallari and husband Jay Cutler - who also have sons Camden, three, and Jaxon, 17 months, together - welcomed Saylor in November.
