The health issue had turned Glanville into an introvert as the illness gave her “the worst anxiety” when she left the house, she said.
The reality television star’s mother started crying when she called to give her the news, she told the outlet.
She previously claimed a parasite she caught in Morocco while filming The Real Housewives caused the disfigurement.
The Daily Mail reported she had spent over US$130,000 ($225,000) on treatment for the issue.
In August, she told magazine US Weekly she had “exhausted” her savings trying to find a solution.
The 52-year-old told the outlet that same month that she had met infectious disease doctor Dr Michael Scoma in an attempt to treat the issue.
Glanville said she was “a wreck” but was trying to stay positive.
“I always joke my life is like The Last of Us? I’m just turning into one of those black mould people,” she said.
“That’s how I felt. I have lumps on my face, and they’re moving around.”
In 2020, Glanville made headlines for her hygiene and cleaning habits during the Covid pandemic.
On her podcast Unfiltered she said: “I spray bleach on my children ... because you can’t buy rubbing alcohol anywhere so I diluted some bleach and water and everyone gets a little spray spray.”
She later clarified in a tweet that she sprayed the bottom of their shoes and not their faces.
