Lucy Knight - the good samaritan who suffered a fractured skull while trying to stop a bag-snatcher - says broadcaster Susan Wood will need privacy to recover from a serious head injury.
Ms Wood, who hosts Q+A and is a presenter on NewsTalk ZB, suffered a serious head injury froma fall at her home in Auckland on January 10 and was taken to hospital..
She has since been discharged and is now in rehabilitation.
Her sons, Alex and Matt Beck, said in a statement: "The treatment of our mother has been outstanding. We also appreciate the concern and goodwill shown by others."
This evening, Ms Knight, who was seriously injured after stepping in to stop a teenager taking another woman's bag, tweeted her best wishes to Ms Wood.
TVNZ said: "We were saddened to hear of Susan's accident. Susan is a much respected and admired member of our newsroom. She will be in her colleagues' and our viewers' thoughts as she recuperates.
"We will be supporting Susan in her recovery, and we ask that her family's request for privacy during this challenging time is respected."
