Filmmaker Garry Marshall's planned Princess Diaries sequel will be Anne Hathaway's first project after becoming a mother if he has his way.
The actress and her husband, Adam Schulman, welcomed son Jonathan Rosebanks in late March, and they are currently enjoying life as first-time parents.

However, Garry is hopeful theLes Miserables star will return to Hollywood sooner rather than later and will want to move ahead with a third instalment of their family-friendly movie franchise, in which Anne portrays unlikely royal Mia Thermopolis.
The director confirmed Anne's interest in Princess Diaries 3 weeks before she gave birth, and now he reveals he is "in talks" with studio bosses at Disney to officially green light the project."Disney is quite powerful," he told E! News, "and they say they would like to announce - not me - but we are talking."
And the 81-year-old can only hope Anne's feelings about returning to the franchise haven't changed since entering motherhood and becoming more of a dramatic actress in recent years.
"Anne Hathaway has a baby now... and a wonderful husband, Adam," Garry began.
"And people change. There's a (career) passage. It goes, 'Oh! I'm discovered in this movie!' If it's a comedy they say, 'Alright, enough of that, I want to be an O.D. on drugs (sic); I want to be naked.' And they go through that period."
"Then they have a child and come back to me and say, 'I'd like to do something my child could see'," he continued. "And I'm very good and making things your child could see, and the whole family!"

Garry's hopeful comments emerge 10 months after Disney bosses previously dismissed talk of a new Princess Diaries sequel.
The original 2001 The Princess Diaries, based on Meg Cabot's 2000 novel of the same name, was a box office success, raking in $US165 million worldwide. The 2004 sequel, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, earned $US135 million worldwide.
