Pillow talk: Stars lift the lid on bedroom secrets

Zoe Marshall's candid admission about her sleeping arrangements with her husband Benji have made headlines again - this time when talking to US talkshow host Dr Oz.

Last year Zoe revealed she slept in separate beds from her Kiwi league star husband due to his snoring. "Benji and I have separate rooms. No need for remedies we both love having our own rooms. It is our idea of heaven," she said last year.

She approached the topic again with Dr Oz during a radio segment on Sydney's NOVA FM's Fitzy & Wippa Show today.

"I'm getting a lot of judgment that my husband and I don't sleep in the same bed. And I wanted to know, do you think this is normal? Because I really love it," the 31-year-old media personality asked.

Zoe's admission was met with a loud chuckle from Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald before the celebrity doctor chimed in: "Benji's so good looking though, why wouldn't you want to sleep in the same bed with him?"

The happily-married star suggestively reassured she likes to '"do other things" in the same bed as her athletic beau, but likes to sleep in separate rooms.

When asked how the sleeping arrangement began, the brunette beauty revealed her husband suffers from sleep apnea, which is a known cause for snoring.

Referring to the mask that is often used by sleep apnea patients to fix their snoring, Zoe said: "He won't have the machine ... He thinks it's not attractive."

Adopting a more serious tone, Dr Oz proceeded to inform Zoe and the hosts about the ongoing health side effects of untreated sleep apnea and list a variety of alternate fixes.

A 2013 a study by Ryerson University in Canada shows that 30 to 40 per cent of couples are opting to sleep in separate rooms, due to issues like snoring, bed hogging and clashing work shifts.

Amongst them are a number of celebrity spouses, who have admitted to sleeping solo.

These include one of Hollywood's biggest couples, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, whose former bodyguard said sleep in separate beds.

Queen Elizabeth II herself and husband Prince Philip, who have been married for 65 years, also sleep in different rooms within Buckingham Palace.

Lady Pamela Hicks, the Prince's cousin, explained in American author Sally Bedel Smith's biography on the monarch that "In England, the upper class always have had separate bedrooms.

"You don't want to be bothered with snoring or someone flinging a leg around. Then when you are feeling cosy you share your room sometimes. It is lovely to be able to choose."

, published in 2015, that she and husband Jionni LaValle sleep apart to look after their two young children.

"In all seriousness, we get it on once in a blue moon," said Polizzi in her book.

"Sleep apnea leads to high blood pressure, cancer, weight gain, all kinds of stuff," the 56-year-old medical expert explained.

But Zoe - who hosts the 3PM Pick-Up show on KIIS FM - admitted she's reluctant to remedy her husband's snoring having gotten used to the set-up.

"I feel like I kind of don't want to fix the snoring because I really love sleeping separately now," she confessed.

In May, the bronzed beauty revealed her plans to start a family with her St George Illawarra Dragons hubby.

"My husband's ready, my body's ready, I just need to kind of get ready," she said.

She's been urged by her doctor to have a baby after undergoing multiple operations for endometriosis but the blogger says she still doesn't feel completely ready motherhood yet.

"But I don't know if I'm ever going to be that woman that goes 'Oh my God, I want a baby now!'".

"Maybe when it's too late, but I feel like all my ducks are in a row, there's no reason for me not to have a baby, so I kind of just need to get my mind into action," she said.

Zoe and Benji tied the knot in Byron Bay in 2013 after three years of dating.
