The family were reported missing on 16 December and were found buried in the garden of their London home on Tuesday.
Police spoke to Blake's partner Arthur Simpson-Kent, 48, the same day his former partner and sons were reported missing.
He travelled to Ghana hours later and arrived in the West African country on December 19.
Event promoter and Busua resident Ebenezer Felix Bentum told Pulse that Simpson-Kent had been staying in the area.
Mr Bentum met Simpson-Kent over the holidays. They chatted about a New Year party Mr Bentum was managing.
"He was a bit down, he was not happy and did not look happy. Like he had a lot on his mind. He didn't even pay attention to what I was saying," Mr Bentum said.
He did not recognise Simpson-Kent at the time.
"I was just talking to him, trying to promote my programme."
He told Pulse that Simpson-Kent was in Busua for five to six days and was staying at a Dadson's Lodge.
"He was all around Busua, just chilling at the beach."
Mr Bentum confirmed he had seen Simpson-Kent in a police patrol car at about 4pm on Saturday (Ghana time).
Dadson's Lodge receptionist Winfred Amoah confirmed to Pulse that Simpson-Kent stayed there from December 28.
She said he gave the name Danquah Paul Kofi when he signed in.
