A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE ...

Daniel Craig has admitted he'd rather harm himself than take on yet another James Bond role - and his comments are creating a backlash.

In an interview for upcoming 007 film Spectre, Craig was asked whether he could imagine creating another Bond film.

"Now? I'd rather break this glass and slash my wrists... I'm over it at the moment. We're done. All I want to do is move on," he told TimeOut.

Actress Ellen Pompeo was quick to scold the actor for his questionable comment.

Others also questioned his choice of words on Twitter.

@robjparker has he had those experiences though? I don't think Daniel Craig has slit his wrists?

This makes him sound like a twat. Daniel Craig: I’d rather slash my wrists than do another Bond movie http://t.co/HCKCppakeb

      — Phil Hickes Author (@Hickesy) October 8, 2015

After the outburst, Craig was asked if he was ready to drop the character for good, providing a more level-headed response.

"For at least a year or two, I just don't want to think about it ... if I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money," he said.

Craig also doesn't care who takes up the Bond mantle after him but did have some choice words for whoever it might be.

"Don't be s***! Go for it. Embrace it ... just make sure you're great. You've got to push yourself as far as you can.

"It's worth it, it's James Bond."

The 47-year-old actor will portray the British spy for the fourth time in Spectre and is contracted for one more movie but doesn't think he would be "physically able" to do more than that.

Asked how long Bond can keep going, he said: "He's old now - 47. He'll keep going for as long as he's physically able, which isn't that long.

"I'm contracted for one more film, which seems to be a fair number, but I'm not going to make predictions."

And though Daniel thinks it would be possible to remake some of the classic Bond movies, he's ruled himself out of any such project because of his age.

He said: "I don't think [I'd remake one]. I guess you could because all the movies come from the books in which there are so many characters and stories and different angles to explore. But no, I'm too old."

And Daniel admitted it is getting more and more difficult to get into the shape required for the action films.

Asked how he prepares, he told Britain's Hello! magazine: "Nothing special - the usual exercising, working myself to death. No secret method involved, just sheer hard graft that I'm used to. It's getting harder I will admit but such is life."
