New Zealand's teen pop superstar Lorde has been immortalised by one of the country's top artists.
A photograph of the unframed oval painting by Peter Stichbury was posted by the Takapuna songstress on the image-sharing website Instagram this week.
Ella Yelich-O'Connor, known as Lorde, revealed the newly finished work to her followers and excitedly announced on the social media site: "Had the honour of being painted by Peter Stichbury a while back!"
Stichbury, who has also painted singers Natalie Imbruglia and Bic Runga, looks to symbols and iconography of the moment for inspiration.
Art+Object's art department manager Leigh Melville, said she wasn't surprised to learn that Lorde had featured in his latest work.
"He particularly looks to fashion for inspiration and if someone is particularly fashionable at the time then it's not surprising they become featured in a portrait."
Stichbury generally painted the portraits from photographs of his subject.
Melville said the Lorde painting would be worth about $30,000.
